The MBBS programme at BMCH is organised in phases. In the first phase (pre‑clinical), students study foundational subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, along with early clinical exposure, an introduction to community medicine, and an emphasis on communication and ethics. This is followed by the para‑clinical phase, where students study Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and related lab and theory work, building understanding of disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and therapeutics. As they progress, the course transitions into the clinical phase, with students rotating through departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, and other allied specialities. They engage in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, emergency care, diagnostics, case discussions, and supervised procedures — gaining real-life exposure to patient management. The final year leads into a one‑year compulsory rotating internship, where students apply their accumulated knowledge and skills across different departments in the hospital under supervision. By the end of this journey, graduates gain a blend of scientific knowledge, clinical skills, patient‑care experience, diagnostic ability, and readiness to handle medical responsibilities or pursue specialisation.
