Highlights The MBBS programme at JISMSR is a 5½-year full-time course (4.5 years of academic study plus a 1-year rotating internship) that combines a structured medical curriculum with early and continuous clinical exposure. From the first year, students start with foundational subjects — Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry — to understand the human body’s structure and functions. As they advance, they study para-clinical disciplines like Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and then move into pre-clinical and para-clinical phases, including Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine. In later years, the focus shifts to full clinical training: rotations through General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, and other departments — working with real patients in a functioning hospital environment. The attached teaching hospital (a 500+ bed facility) ensures that from early on, students gain hands-on experience with diagnostics, wards, emergency care, OPDs, and diverse real-life medical cases. After completing all academic phases and the mandatory internship, graduates become eligible to practice medicine or pursue postgraduate studies.
