Highlights The MBBS programme at JISMSR is a 5½-year full-time course (4.5 years of academic study plus a 1-year rotating internship) that combines a structured medical curriculum with early and continuous clinical exposure. From the first year, students start with foundational subjects — Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry — to understand the human body’s structure and functions. As they advance, they study para-clinical disciplines like Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and then move into pre-clinical and para-clinical phases, including Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine. In later years, the focus shifts to full clinical training: rotations through General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, and other departments — working with real patients in a functioning hospital environment. The attached teaching hospital (a 500+ bed facility) ensures that from early on, students gain hands-on experience with diagnostics, wards, emergency care, OPDs, and diverse real-life medical cases. After completing all academic phases and the mandatory internship, graduates become eligible to practice medicine or pursue postgraduate studies.
Placement Details for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at JIS School of Medical Science & Research
Students complete their compulsory rotating internship within the associated teaching hospital, gaining practical experience in departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Emergency Services, and Community Health. This year-long internship serves as the first real professional exposure, often leading to opportunities for junior doctor roles or residency positions in government and private hospitals. Graduates typically pursue NEET-PG or FMGE/NExT pathways, or begin working in clinics, diagnostic centres, emergency care units, and private healthcare settings. For those seeking government roles, the state health departments regularly recruit medical officers, and early-career MBBS doctors often find openings through contractual or permanent posts. Since JISMSR is part of JIS University and operates under a PPP model, students usually gain exposure to a vast network of partner hospitals and health institutions, enabling them to develop connections that translate into early-career opportunities. While the concept of "placements" differs from that of management or engineering colleges, MBBS graduates from JISMSR can expect a clear pathway to internships, residency opportunities, government medical officer roles, and postgraduate specialisations — forming a strong foundation for long-term career growth in the medical field.
