Highlights "The Medical Council of India (MCI) has revised the curriculum of MBBS with effect from May 1997. The new Regulations are called the ""Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997"", vide MCI notification dated 04 Mar 1997, published in part III, Section 4 of the Gazette of India dated 17th May 1997. These regulations have been amended vide MCI notifications dated 29th May 1999, 02nd Jul 2002, 30th Sep 2003, 16th Oct 2003, 01st Mar 2004, 20th Oct 2008, 15th Dec 2008, 22nd Dec 2008, 25th Mar 2009 and 19th Apr 2010. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University, Mysore, Karnataka has implemented the new regulations, for the batches of students admitted to MBBS course for the academic year 2008-09 onwards. The amendments shall also be applicable to these batches of students." The goal of teaching the undergraduate student in forensic medicine is to impart such knowledge and skills that may enable them to identify and manage common medico-legal problems in day-to-day medical practice. To acquire competence to draw conclusions from autopsy, issuing various medico-legal certificates, understanding ethics, etiquette, negligence in medical practice and basic law system of India for medical practice.

JSS Medical College offers undergraduate course in medicine (M.B.B.S) with annual intake of 200 seats and postgraduate degree (M.D and M.S) in 22 different medical disciplines along with 4 super specialty courses, DM Medical Gastroenterology, DM Neurology, DM Nephrology and M.Ch. Urology. Additionally, the institute offers 13 BSc Biomedical science programmes and M.Sc. in 9 disciplines (Medical Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Clinical embryology, Clinical Psychology, Genetics & Genomics) and Masters in Public Health (MPH), M.Phil Psychiatry Social Work. Institution is offering Fellowship course in Pain Medicine, Psycho Sexual Medicine and Certificate course in Psycho Sexual Medicine.
