With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation, the department has produced quality professionals some of the M.Sc. IT graduates undertake research studies. The department organizes co-curricular and extra-curricular events for the students to enrich their talents. The final year UG students are offered soft skills training. Research initiatives have been undertaken by our department to explore the current trends in the field of IT our faculty members have published articles in national and international journals. The overall mission of the Department is to impart high quality education and carry out leading edge research in various research areas.

The Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore was established in the year 1852 by the British Government. This College is one of the best Government Institutions in Tamilnadu. Top bureaucrats, administrators, defence personnel and high profile politicians are alumni of this institution. It was conferred autonomous status in the year 1987.
In 2012, the college was re-accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC. Admissions to the college is coveted by students due to the exceptional guidance offered by highly qualified teaching faculty.
