BCA Admission 2026: Application Process, Colleges & Eligibility

The full form of BCA course is Bachelor of Computer Applications. It is a three-year undergraduate program made for students who are interested in computer science, software development, and IT management. This course provides programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python), database management, networking, web development, and cybersecurity. Students can pursue careers as software developers, system administrators, data analysts, web developers, cybersecurity experts, and IT consultants, among others.

Eligibility criteria for admission: 

Students must have completed their 10+2 examination from a recognised educational board. Besides this, students from all streams—science, commerce, or arts—can apply. Meanwhile, note that taking mathematics or computer science in school can be an added advantage. Most universities require a minimum aggregate score of 45% to 50% in the qualifying examination.

A validated board from the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, or the State Board authorises students to pursue their 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or equivalent examination.

The admission criteria apply to candidates from science, commerce, and arts educational backgrounds.

Universities across India often accept mathematics or computer science as their preferred subjects. However, they do not establish it as a mandatory requirement.

1. Minimum Marks Required:

The standard passing requirement stands at between 45% and 50% of total marks obtained in class 12 studies.

The University Grants Commission and universities provide 5% reduction in the minimum score criteria for students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD groups.
