Nursing is one of the most sought-after professions for those who want to serve in the healthcare industry. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) course is a four-year undergraduate program designed to prepare students to deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients, develop clinical skills, and refine their decision-making abilities. The course is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and includes both classroom study and hands-on practice in hospitals, as well as community health environments. 

• A nurse is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for caring for patients, administering medication, maintaining medical records, assisting doctors in treating the sick, and ensuring patients' comfort and safety. In addition to the technical skills, nurses also provide emotional support to patients and their family members in times of crisis.
• Nurses can be found in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, military services, schools and even public health awareness programs. They frequently are the first line of patient contact and are essential to tracking health status, characterising problems and maintaining continuity of care.

The following are the eligibility criteria for top nursing courses:

ANM/GNM:

• Eligibility: 10+2 (PCM/PCB) OR AME passed or 3 3-year diploma in any stream.
• Minimum age: 17 years

B.Sc. Nursing:

• Eligibility: 10+2 (Science) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
• At least 45-50% aggregate (with relevant subjects, and may differ according to the university)
• Some colleges require entrance exams, such as the NEET and AIIMS Nursing.
• Eligibility: GNM qualification and the New States Nursing Council.

M.Sc. Nursing:

• Eligibility: B.Sc. in Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate.
• One year of teaching experience in the clinical field (in many institutes).

PhD in Nursing:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with applicable work or research experience.

Clinical Knowledge & Technical Skills

Nurses should have a sound knowledge of:

• Human anatomy and physiology
• Medical terminologies and procedures
• Vital signs monitoring
• How you are taking it (by mouth, IV, IM, and so forth)
• Wound care and infection control
• Medical equipment (such as oxygen cylinders, infusion meters, ECG etc.)

Communication Skills

Effective communication with:

• Patients (to educate about treatment and provide emotional support)
• Physicians (reporting progress/complications of the patient)
• Other nurses and professionals (for team care)
• Patients' families (for updates, counseling, or directions)

Empathy & Compassion

The nurses must be able to sense the pain, fear, or anxiety a patient or their family member might be experiencing and respond with kindness, patience, and support.

Emotional Strength & Stress Management

Nurses often deal with:

Critical Thinking & Decision-Making
