JAM 2026 Registration, Eligibility, Dates & Exam Details Guide

Joint Admission Test, also known as (JAM) is the national entrance exam for admissions to postgraduate science programs across prestigious Indian institutes like IITs and IISc. JAM 2026 will be held on February 15, 2026, at 8 exam zones in India. Registered candidates can attend the test only with the IIT JAM admit card released on January 13, 2026, along with id proofs. IIT Bomaby will release the JAM results 2026 on March 20, 2026 at jam2026.iitb.ac.in

IIT Bombay conducts JAM 2026 for admission in MSc, MSc-Tech, Integrated MSc-PhD, and related programs. JAM test comprises 7 papers/subjects. Based on the M.Sc programme, applicants can register for the exam by selecting their preferred paper. Around 3000 seats are available at IITs for M.Sc admission, considering JAM scores. The JAM exam is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIT Bombay to get M.Sc admission to any of the top colleges, such as IITs, IISc Bengaluru, IISERs, IIPE, JNCASR, and CFTIs such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, DIAT. JAM 2026 is considered for admission in the following courses: MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, and MSc-MTech dual degrees. Candidates who completed B.Sc degree from any approved university can take part in the JAM entrance examination.

JAM 2026: Highlights

It is recommended to fufill the JAM exam eligibility criteria to apply for the test conducted by IIT Bombay for M.Sc admission. JAM 2026 eligibility criteria is explained below. 

• Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in science or allied fields from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
• There is no age limit.
• Final-year students can apply provisionally.
• Reserved categories must submit valid certificates.

Eligible candidates must apply through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal. Follow the step-by-step instructions to fill out the JAM application form and pay the JAM registration fees. 

Step 1: Visit JAM 2026 official website, joaps.iitb.ac.in. Click on “How to apply?” tab available on the home page and select JOAPS portal from the drop-down list.

Step 2: Click on “Registration”. Enter your name, valid email ID, mobile number, country of residence, and set a secure password. After successful registration, candidates will receive their enrollment ID and OTP to their registered email ID and mobile number. 

Step 3: After initial JAM registration, use your Enrollment ID/ email ID to log in to the portal. 

Step 4: Fill in personal details (name, date of birth, parents’ name, address), academic qualifications, degree details, and college information.

Step 5: Select your preferred JAM exam paper(s) and exam city from the given options. Candidates can select three exam cities according to their preference. 

Step 6: Upload scanned images of a recent photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), 10th marksheet, and valid photo ID.

Step 7: Pay the JAM application fee online via net banking, debit/credit card, UPI, or wallet. The category-wise JAM exam fees are given in the table below.

Step 8: Review all entered details, submit the application, and print or save the confirmation for future reference.

Documents Required for JAM 2026 Registration

The following is the list of documents required for the IIT JAM 2026 exam application. The same set of documents must be submitted at the time of the counselling session to secure an M.Sc seat at any of the top M.Sc colleges in India. 

• Passport-size photograph (recent, as per the prescribed format).
• Signature (as per prescribed format).
• Class 10 marksheet or certificate (for date of birth proof)
• Qualifying degree/provisional certificate
• Category/EWS/PwD certificate (if claiming reservation)
• Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License)

Can I edit JAM Application Form 2026?

After the closure of the JAM registration window, the authority opens an online correction window for registered candidates to edit their applications. Corrections can be made in specific fields such as photo, signature, and exam city preference.

JAM admit card 2026 is available from January 13, 2026, through the official JOAPS portal. The JAM Admit Card 2026 is a crucial document that must be carried to the examination centre for entry into the exam hall. It contains essential information such as the candidate’s name, registration number, photograph, signature, test paper details, and the allotted exam centre address. Candidates must carefully verify all the details on the admit card and retain it until the admission process is complete.

Step 1: Visit the official JAM 2026 website, jam2026.iitb.ac.in and go to the JOAPS portal.

Step 2: Click on the 'Download JAM Admit Card 2026'.

Step 3: Enter your Enrollment ID or Email ID and Password to log in.

Step 4: Solve the displayed arithmetic/captcha for security and submit.

Step 5: The JAM admit card will be displayed on the screen. 

Step 6: Download the hall ticket and print out the JAM admit card to attend the test. 

Step 7: Finally, carry the printed admit card and a valid original photo ID to the JAM exam centre.

JAM 2026 Marking Scheme

JAM exam results will release on March 20, 2026, in online mode on the JAM official website, jam2026.iitb.ac.in. Candidates who appeared for the test can check out their JAM results by entering their enrollment ID and password in the JAM portal. The JAM score accepted colleges will invite candidates who meet the JAM cutoff to participate in the further selection process, which comprises GD/PI rounds.
