The Master of Science in Agriculture comprises advanced farm science, crop production, agronomy, soil science, plant breeding, research methodology and agricultural subjects as per specialisation. The course is composed of classroom teaching, field practice, laboratory work and dissertation training.
Candidates should have passed B.Sc, Agriculture or any other relevant subject from a recognised university with minimum qualifying marks. Some universities will ask you to have studied certain subjects as prerequisites for the specialisation.
MSc Agriculture Colleges BHU, ANGRAU, PJTSAU, Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Navsari Agricultural University and SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Government universities have very low fees but the fees are in a higher range in private universities.
Basically there are 2 common ways for admission in Msc in Agriculture in India CUET PG and university level agriculture entrance exam, The universities also select the students on the basis of merit and counselling.
Graduates can apply for the jobs of Agronomist, Agricultural Officer, Soil Scientist, Plant Breeder and Research Associate. The starting salaries for jobs range from LPA 3.5 to LPA 9 on an average basis depending upon the company and the job. The recruitment would be through research institutes, seed companies, agri input companies, university & government agriculture departments.
