M.Tech Admission 2026 in India – Eligibility, Exams & Colleges

Step 1: Fulfil MTech eligibility criteria

Step 2: Attend the MTech entrance examinations accepted in India

Engineering aspirants who wish to pursue the MTech course from any of the best M.Tech colleges in India need to register and qualify in any of the entrance exams. Some of the Mtech entrance exams accepted by various universities in India include GATE, CUET PG, and other state-wise entrance exams. 

Step 3: Complete registration for Mtech admission 2026

Step 4: Release of shortlist

Candidates who meet the entrance exam cutoff marks will be shortlisted for further selection rounds such as GD/PI. 

Step 5: Attend Centralised Counselling or GD/PI 

Get your registration done for centralised counselling MBA admission according to the entrance exam passed: 
 
CCMT: For NITs, IIITs, and some GFTIs, you will have to register, pay a fee, and participate in centralized counselling based on your GATE score. 
 
COAP: This is a portal through which IITs release to students their offer to accept/reject the MTech offer made by different IITs. IITs have admission through their own system, but offers are made through COAP. 
 
State Counselling: State exams such as TANCET or PGECET must be registered on state university portals. 
  
Step 4: Uploading of Documents and choice filling

Upload the required documents to complete the registration. Then, rank the institute and destination of your choice in order of preference. In some state portals, you can lock and edit your preferences.  

Step 5: Seat allotment process 
Candidate will be assigned a seat according to rank, category and preference. 
 
Step 6: Payment of Mtech admission fees
Selected candidates need to pay the first semester fees to confirm the seat. Candidate can pay the fees only after the verification of documents.
