With a student strength of 2300 and 37 faculty, it is one of the largest in Bangalore University as well as in the newly constituted Bengaluru City University. There is a great demand for admissions, leading to stiff cut-off percentage and drawing students of the highest quality. The aim of the department is to ensure that every student gets an equal opportunity to become an enterprising and productive citizen and thereby contribute to the great pool of human resource. The faculty members are well qualified, with a sizeable number of them with dual PG degrees and NET/ SLET qualified and pursuing research in the ever-many expanding field of commerce and management. Several faculty members have authored text books and reference books.The Department regularly conducts competitions, workshops and seminars to keep the students abreast of the latest in the world of commerce. Its Business Lab initiative is one of its kind among degree colleges in Bangalore.
Established in 1973, Seshadripuram College quickly attained a prominent position among the limited number of undergraduate colleges in Bangalore at that time. In these 50 years, the number of degree colleges in Bangalore has shown astronomical growth but Seshadripuram College continues to maintain its reputation and position. From a meagre strength of thirty students at inception, the student strength has grown substantially to more than 3000 with a commensurate expansion of the faculty. The Institution is first among the affiliated College under Bangalore University to be granted PG courses and to offer the BBA course. We are currently affiliated to Bengaluru City University after the University trifurcation process.
