The college was started in 1964 with the blessings of Srimat Swami Madhavanandaji Maharaj and has completed 55 years of purposeful service to the student community and society. Swami Vivekananda believed that for any nation to be great, the youth of that nation should be strong in character and intellect, empathetic towards the society, broad-minded and self-disciplined. To achieve this ideal, the college has adopted the following Mission Statement:
“The College has a Unique Mission of developing the youth by imparting intellectual training; equipping them with vocational skills so as to make them employable; inculcating in them the right attitudes, values, and moral character; and developing a holistic personality of its students with a balanced development of head, heart and hand.”
The College was Re- accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade in the year 2016. It was conferred with autonomous status in the year 1981 and it was extended for a period of five years (2018-19 to 2022-23). The College offered 17 UG programmes and 6 PG programmes and one PG Dimloma Programme. The College has so far produced 464 M.Phil and 160 PhD Scholars. Several reputed industries conduct campus interviews every year thereby recruiting our students. Besides academic studies, students have displayed their talents and skills in sports, literary and cultural competitions held at various levels. The faculty members regularly publish their research papers in national and international journals. The Extension Services of the College’s Departments serve the rural areas in their respective ways.
The “Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centres for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (DDU-KAUSHAL CENTRE)” (to offer Vocational Courses) was started in 2015 with the help of UGC sanctioned funds.
The aim of this initiative is to make students’ independent, meet their own demands, excel in their chosen career and prosper in their lives through “Earn While you Learn” system. This scheme has a great impact on the society as it creates skilled human resource by providing working experience and hands-on training in the industry which is, unfortunately, a neglected factor in our conventional education system.
