PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the course is to enable the student to assess and evaluate the medical as well as the dental history of the patient along with a detailed clinical examination of the oral and para-oral tissues.
To make students aware and competent to differentiate and recognize the normal and abnormal so as to point out the disease. This further helps them to establish a working diagnosis.
To make the students competent to select and prescribe appropriate investigations so as to diagnose a particular disease to formulate the treatment plan, need for emergency dental care, medications, referral, follow-up, etc.
To make the students self-sufficient and confident when it is required to perform through case presentations to disseminate the clinical knowledge, use the recent scientific advances & engagement in recent research projects.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
After completing the course, the students should be able to thoroughly understand the Oral Diseases, their association with underlying systemic diseases, their etiology, epidemiology as well as clinical presentation including teeth, Maxilla, mandible, salivary glands, TMJ, and pain disorders.
The student must be able to differentiate benign lesions from malignant, can point out the risk factors, and methods of prevention, and can emphasize the various treatment protocols.
The student must be able to interpret and report radiographs such as IOPA, OPG, CT scan of the maxillofacial region as well as CBCT.
The student must be able to recommend and perform various chairside investigations to aid in the diagnosis of oral diseases.
The students should mention and demonstrate their Oral manifestations and the dental considerations in the management of these patients.
Grasp the basic knowledge regarding the prescription of various drugs like antibiotics, analgesics, antifungals, and other drugs and must know their mechanisms of action, indications, and contraindications, and their therapeutic uses, particularly in dental practice.
