The department offers B.E. and M.E programmes. The Department is permanently affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and accredited by NBA. The department has highly qualified, committed and research-oriented faculty members. The department has received financial support from leading funding agencies like AICTE, ISRO, ICMR, CSIR, BRNS, DST, DRDO, AERB, CSI, IEI, TNSCST etc., for carrying out research projects and technical events. The department has established Professional bodies like IEEE, CSI and IEI student’s chapters. The department has established a Centre of Excellence in the field of Linux and Open Source, Cloud Computing and Robotic Process Automation in association with Red Hat Academy, Cloud Bull and Automation Anywhere. The department is also carrying out many consultancy activities for many industries.|CSE Department has been recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai. The Department has highly qualified, committed and research-oriented faculty members with 5 PhD holders. Faculty members of the Department are very enthusiastic about research activities and very keen on publishing papers in International/National journals. The faculty members have published around 50 papers in refereed journals. Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CSI-HICET STUDENT BRANCH received the “Best Accredited Student Branch Award” from the Computer Society of India (CSI) for the academic year 2018-2019. Around 80% of the students got placed both in campus placements during the past three academic years in top MNCs like Infosys, TCS, CTS, L&T, Tech Mahindra etc.

One more feather in the crown is a Ford Eco sports car worth 22 lakhs gifted by Ford India and also the Best Accredited student Branch Award from Computer society of India. Further, Establishment and Innovations plays a major role in the academic year 2020-21 Centre of Excellence with Royal Enfield and Eicher Motors are established. The institution continues to be top in the country (National Rank-31 as per Education World Ranking 2021-22).
