About Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was established by an Act of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature in 2005 and began functioning in July 2006. Initially known as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, it was soon upgraded to university status to align with the National Law University system in India. Fully funded by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, the university was established to provide advanced legal education and foster a strong sense of social responsibility among its students.
The university campus, spanning nearly 40 acres along Kanpur Road in Lucknow, is fully residential and designed as a self-sufficient township. It offers separate hostels for male and female students, spacious dining halls, Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, a well-stocked library, moot court halls, seminar rooms, a gymnasium, an auditorium, a cyber lab, and a guest house. This infrastructure offers students both academic and personal support within a holistic environment.
Academically, RMLNLU stands apart with more than 27 permanent full-time faculty members, ensuring high-quality teaching and personalised mentorship. The university also publishes its own peer-reviewed RMLNLU Journal and has a student-run Law Review, fostering a strong culture of research and scholarship.
