Highlights Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) program is for three years and six semesters. It comprises of 40 courses inclusive of Research Dissertation which the student has to pursue in the final year of the program. As an undergraduate Management programme, which is looked up to by the students as a repertory for MBA as well as Entrepreneurial training, BMS’ curriculum is contemporary and its emphasis on practical aspects of Management along with theory is well appreciated.
Jai Hind College, Autonomous, Mumbai, was founded soon after the Indian independence, in 1948, by a group of erstwhile professors of D.J. Sind College, Karachi, and other eminent educationists under the registered name of ‘Sind Educationists’ Association’ primarily for the educational rehabilitation of the Sindhi community. Their goal was to contribute their expertise, knowledge, and skills in order to set up an educational institution par excellence.
Starting from a humble two-room college, catering to only the Arts stream, it soon progressed to include Science in 1949, followed by Commerce in 1980. Post 2000, the college introduced several “Self-financed” and “Vocational” courses to improve employability of students, like Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM), Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF), Bachelor of Banking and Insurance (BBI), Bachelor of Financial Market (BFM) and, Bachelor of Vocational Studies in Travel & Tourism Management (B. Voc. TT) and Software Development (B. Voc. SD). Recently, Master of Science in Big Data Analytics and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) were introduced, both in collaboration with TCS as the Industry partner.
At present, there are 13 UG programs, 5 PG programs, 1 Research program and 51 Certificate/Skill development/Value-added Courses that Jai Hind College offers. In 2018, the Union Ministry of HRD and the University of Mumbai conferred us with the Autonomous Status in view of our record of continued excellence in academic and all round growth of our students.
