St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences (SJNAHS) is an unaided private Institution. The St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore was begun in 1963 by the CBCI to form medical personnel who would be dedicated to serving the poor majority and whom it could offer to God. Status of Pope John XXIII It was later dedicated as a memorial of the XXXVIII International Eucharistic Congress which took place in Bombay in 1964 and named after St. John the Baptist who is also Patron of Pope John XXIII who had been a great advocate for this venture of reformation by the Catholic Church in India.
