About Vardhman Mahavir Medical College - [VMMC], New Delhi
Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was founded in November 2001 at Safdarjung Hospital, by the Government of India. Its beginning was made by H'ble Prime Minister Sh. At own stage Address Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 17th. L.K.Advani, Sh. C.P.THAKUR and Founder Principal Dr.JAGDISH PRASAD. The college building was inaugurated to the Nation by Vice-President Sh. M. Hamid Ansari on 20.11.2007 in the presence of Hon'ble Health Minister - Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. Its first batch of MBBS was admitted in February, 2002. Post-graduate courses (MD/MS) in clinical faculty were already available at Safdarjung Hospital prior to creation of VMMC. The MD/MS course in Pre and Para clinical subjects were began in the year 2011. MD/MS seats have increased over the years. The college also conducts super specialization (Mch/DM).
VMMC is associated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. In a span of 10 years the VMMC college is now recognized as a premier medical institution in India. (A Medical miracle by as India Today Aspire August 2013.
This was perhaps the first institution where PG and junior resident were both widely available to people of all ranks in society long before independence. Date, it has developed with more than 1550 beds inclusive of bassinets. It were OPD patients more than 10 lakh/year. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (attached with S.J Hospital) has modern facilities and all type of investigations and patient care. Speciality & Super Speciality Dept.\'s This medical college & hospital has speciality and super speciality departments. of CTVS, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, Nephrology, Respiratory Medicine, Burns & Plastic, Paediatric Surgery Gastro Enterology and so on. It is a well equipped surgical hospitals for angiography, angioplasty, value replacement and repairs, coronary artery by pass grafting, lithotripsy, sleep laboratory, endoscopies, arthroscopy, video EEG, dialysis, spiral CT, MRI, automated blood Test analyzers etc.
