Entrance Exams for BSc Computer Science 2026: CUET, NPAT & SET

The admission criteria for the BSc Computer Science course at universities like Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University and other central universities will be based on the Central University Entrance Test Undergraduate exam in areas like Artificial Intelligence, data science and quantum computing. This new rule will start in the 2026 session. To apply, students will need to submit their Central University Entrance Test scores in areas such as Python programming, Mathematics, and Computer Science on the National Testing Agency portal. 

The Central University Entrance Test will take place on May 11 2026. For universities like Christ University, Vellore Institute of Technology University, Lovely Professional University and so on the admission criteria will be based on separate entrance exams or merit in areas like cybersecurity, blockchain technology and Machine Learning. In state universities, the admission criteria for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science will be based on class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum of 50 per cent, in areas related to software development.

CUET UG will provide admissions for central universities like DU and BHU, for computer science domains from May 11-31, 2026. The official registration website will be cuet.nta.nic.in, and registration will begin on January 3, 2026. Computer Science domains will suit students aiming for AI careers with the English General Test.

CUCET provides entry to Chandigarh University computer science programs through Phase 1 remote-proctored exam until April 1. CUCET ranks determine scholarships for AI, cloud computing seats. 

LPU NEST targets Lovely Professional University computer science aspirants with multiple phases. The university offers placements in tech giants from different sectors.

State exams like PUBDET, Rajasthan JET allocate seats in government colleges for computer science. PUBDET June window serves West Bengal universities. Home-state quotas favour local students.​

BSc CS entrance exams are computer-based, with 50 MCQs to be completed in 60 minutes. The BSc entrance exam syllabus covers Class 12 Computer Science syllabus, including Python, Databases, and Networks, is covered.

1. Master High-Weightage Topics

• Programming Fundamentals: Practice exception handling, loops, and functions using Python. Practice 50+ questions a day for accuracy.
• Database Management: Practice complex queries, relational calculus, and normalisation.
• Data Structures: Learn arrays, stacks, queues, and linked lists, and understand them with the help of diagrams.
• Computer Networks: Learn the OSI model, protocols, IP addressing, and memorise them with real-world scenarios.
• Cybersecurity Basics: Learn the basics of cybersecurity, including encryption, firewalls, and trending topics like ransomware.

2. Create Study Timetable

• 1 hour a day to be dedicated to new topics like sorting algorithms.
• 30 minutes to be dedicated to practising questions right after reading.
• Weekends to be dedicated to mocks, 60 minutes each.
• Review of notes once a week with special focus on weak topics like Boolean algebra.
