It must be noted that for premier institutions such as Banglore's top-ranking institutions, the MAT score requirement would be between 80-90+, with some of the elite institutions that use MAT scores for their admissions to their business programs including Christ University's requirement of an MAT score of 90+, Alliance Business School requiring an MAT score between 80-90+, and XIME Banglore requiring an MAT score between 70-85+.
Also, no government MBA college in Bangalore accepts MAT scores. They mainly rely on PGCET for government quota seats and CAT/CMAT for others. Only IIPM has a secondary acceptance for MAT with a score in the 60+ percentile, along with CAT. So, most opportunities lie with private colleges that actively favour the MAT.
Registration to MAT 2026 consists of logging in to the website, mat.aima.in, creating an account using a valid email/phone number, filling in personal/academic details, choosing a mode of the exam (PBT/CBT/IBT), uploading a photo and signature, and making an online payment of INR 2100. The forms open one or two months before each session (February/May/September/December). Download the admit card a few days in advance.
Admission to colleges in Bangalore through MAT takes place 10-15 days after the results are declared (end of March for the Feb session), followed by GD and PI sessions 2-4 weeks later at private colleges such as Christ University or XIME. Final admissions notifications usually appear in May-June, followed by commencement in June-July 2026.
The MAT results are valid for 1 year from the date of announcement. Most colleges in Bangalore that accept MAT results, such as Christ University, XIME, and Alliance, accept the MAT results for the 2026 sessions in Feb, May, Sep, or Dec for admissions to the 2026-28 batch. They do not accept these results for the 2027-29 batch.
