The Department of Literature and Languages at SRM University-AP redefines the study of English literature and language by treating literature as a skill, language as a science, and pedagogy as an art. The curriculum has been thoughtfully revamped to enhance content, delivery, and assessment methods. The Communicative English course has evolved into an Ability Enhancement Course, covering Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Presentation (LSRWPr) over two semesters for all students. With innovative teaching methodologies such as blended learning, interactive presentations, group discussions, and research-based projects, students gain a well-rounded and practical education. The assessment model has shifted to a formative structure, eliminating traditional exams in favor of continuous evaluation.
The B.A. English program is designed to develop strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills, making students adaptable to academic, professional, and social spheres. The university offers two pathways: B.A. English (Regular) and B.A. English (Honours with Research). The Honours track extends to a fourth year, providing specialized training in research methodologies, genre criticism, and literature review techniques, culminating in a 16-credit dissertation.
