Highlights The English Department offers courses that combine intellectual rigor with continuous innovation in its B.A. program. The Major program offered by the Department qualifies its students for a research degree, enabling them to explore critical areas of literary studies. All senior students will write a research paper based on specific readings, and have weekly consultations with a designated supervisor.The English Major consists of 24 four-credit courses, and one 12-credit Supervised Research Paper (UGSRP) to be completed in four years. The first two years aim at providing the student with a historical grounding in the discipline. The student is familiarized with genres within literature and movements like humanism of Renaissance and modernism. The third and fourth years offer courses pitched at a more advanced level. Students are also acquainted with particular lines of specialization. The individually supervised essay, written through the seventh and eighth semesters, trains the student to engage with rigor and depth in a focused area of research.

Placements Preparation Module
The CDC organizes various quantitative aptitude, skill-based sessions, mock tests, interviews, and group discussions and focuses on each student by providing them with an advisor who helps in the student’s personal and professional developments. The Center focuses on every aspect of the professional world such as communication, cover letters, resume-writing, and making the students all-rounders.
Career Advisors
CDC advisors assist every student and help them in realizing their potential by understanding their personal interests, skills, and potential. In sessions, group discussions, and training for personal interviews, the CDC advisor can help the student with everything and anything under the sun.
Soft Skills Training
Training is given to students on various technology domains and are taken for industry visits. The University also hosts various hackathons and industry-related competitions around the year, which attract students from across the country. Besides providing preparation support for higher education, various preparatory programs such as Synergence, Elevate, and Campus to Corporate are held.
Clubs & Societies
The student clubs and societies provide each student the opportunity to explore their passion outside their regular studies and collaborate and learn as part of a community bound together by shared interests. As repeatedly mentioned by our alumni, these provide excellent opportunities for the development of key skills for career success. Several clubs compete regularly in national and international competitions and win significant awards.
Health & Wellness
The University has a Health Center with residential para-medic staff and visiting Doctors. The campus has an ambulance 24x7.The campus also houses a gym located on the first floor of the Indoor Sports Complex. It has all the basic and advanced equipment. The gym is open to all members of SNU.

Housing Facilities
The residential student hostels at SNU are state-of-the-art and gender-segregated. They are designed to cater to individual student requirements for personal space while also incorporating a culture of shared living.
Shuttle Services
The University provides transport service for students and all staff members to facilitate travel to the city and neighboring places during weekends. Students need to register to avail of this service. The service is planned and managed by the student transport committee for students.
Safety & Security
Security personnel patrols the campus round-the-clock, and high-definition CCTV cameras monitor the campus hostel blocks, academic areas, and residential areas.
Cafe & Dining
The campus is dotted with cafés and shops for faculty members and students. They offer a variety of snacks and beverages for quick bites in-between meals.
The University campus houses students from all 28 states, and the cuisine available on the campus reflects that diversity. Catering to students' cultural and food preferences, the two large Dining Halls (DH 1 & 2) provide a full spectrum of a healthy and well-balanced diet.
