Highlights The worlds of history, political science, and economics are all intertwined. This 3-year undergraduate degree will give you a firm grounding in everything they have in common. Students start with how historical events have shaped societies, how political systems work, and who governs the way they do, as well as the basics of economic theory and policy. As they progress through the semesters, the course expands into higher areas such as modern Indian history, the world wars, political ideologies, comparative politics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and so on. The design is meant to provide students with both a wide view and analytical depth, so they can learn to see how history, politics and economics shape one another. Vivekananda learning is active and participatory — students analyse case studies, debate, write research papers, give project presentations, participate in seminars, and engage in group discussions that connect classroom-based learning with broader issues.

B.A. History, Political Science, and Economics is a 3-year full-time course and degree awarded by Osmania University. In the first two years, students receive a broad grounding in all three disciplines — ancient and medieval history, political systems, and the structure of the Indian Constitution; basic economic principles and resource allocation. Then, as they progress into their second and third years, it gets more specialised and complex. In history, students will encounter modern Indian history, world history, freedom movements, and social reforms. In political science, the subfields include international relations, comparative politics, political thought, and public administration and governance systems. They are taught economics: microeconomic and macroeconomic theories, development economics, public finance, the Indian economy, and international trade. The curriculum is updated every few years to ensure its content remains current — a recent batch included modules on current political issues, economic reforms, globalisation, and sustainable development. Learning is active and participatory — students debate, analyse historical materials, study economic data, present case studies and work on research projects. Government offices, NGOs, research institutions, and media houses offer internships to students, providing them with hands-on experience of how their subjects are applied in practice. The objective is clear: to produce graduates who are educated, productive, and prepared to contribute in meaningful ways to public service, research, journalism or teaching, or for further study in the social sciences.
