National Law School of India University Internship
Internships at NLSIU is a crucial part of the programme and these are meant to provide real practical exposure to the students along with what is being taught in the classroom. Three times a year, in February, June and October, students head out into an array of professional settings to put what they’ve learned — whether that be at law firms or government offices or nongovernmental organizations or corporate environments into live practice.
For the 5-year B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and the 3-year LL. B. (Hons.) programs, students participate in compulsory internships of around 20 working days each February and March. These are not token internships — they award academic credit, and students garner close supervision and evaluation from their supervisors to make sure they blossom personally as well as professionally.
The B.A. (Hons.) program offers students a tiered internship experience: working with grassroots organizations on social change in their first year, professional internships in law, consulting, media or policy during the second and placements that set them up for work immediately after graduation.
These internships are well integrated into the academic calendar with careful attention paid to allowing students to develop skills, experience diverse careers, and meet individuals that can offer future employment opportunities. It’s all about bringing the theory to life and teaching in a way that ensures every student leaves not only with knowledge, but with confidence and practical experience.
