Highlights GU offers Masters Programme in about 57 disciplines in Arts, Science & Technology, Law, Commerce & Management through its 49 postgraduate departments, affiliated colleges, and autonomous institutes. The admission process will end in admitting about 1800 students across its postgraduate departments. We encourage prospective students to visit the respective departmental pages for information on curricula, faculty members, research profile, and other important informations. The links to various postgraduate departments are categorised as per faculty. We have six academic faculties - Arts, Science, Commerce & Management, Law, Technology, and Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. All together, there are 24 students' hostels, out of which 12 are Girls' Hostels and 12 Boys' Hostels, including three hostels (two for boys and one for girls) for research scholars.
Each of these hostels have their own piece of history with famous alumni. These hostels have their own cooking and security staff. The overall in-charge of any hostel is its warden, usually a faculty member. Then there are prefects (from among the hostel borders) who assist the wardens. The hostels run their own Mess Committee, which operates on a no-loss-no-profit basis.
The nodal office for all hostel affairs including hostel admission is the Office of the Secretary, University Classes.
Gauhati Uiversity Hospital
Gauhati University Hospital is the primary health-care facility of Gauhati University. Besides the services it provides to the university community, the GU Hospital remains a primmary source of health-care facility to the neighbouring regions around the unversity campus.
It carries out the OPD services as well as 24 hours Emeregency Services and equioed with ambulances, doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff.
