Highlights Postgraduate teaching Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry centre with residency program established in the year 2011 with intake of two Postgraduate per year. Department provides postgraduate training in comprehensive oral health care for pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence. The Department thrives to achieve a high ethical standard of practice, promotion of education, and research in Pediatric Dentistry. Our clinics provide comprehensive oral health examinations, teeth cleaning, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorative procedures, extractions, minor surgical procedures, space-maintainers, laser treatment and trauma management. Here we recreate happy smiles in toddlers and infants affected by severe early childhood caries by providing Full Mouth Rehabilitation. Uncooperative children are treated with the use of latest endodontic techniques to shorten the treatment duration with satisfactory results. Multiple aesthetic rehabilitation procedures are done for the severely damaged primary dentition like SSC crowns, zirconia etc.

The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry is a three-year master's program with admitted two students per year. Focusing on the total oral health care of the child from infancy to adolescence, this program has an emphasis on preventive measures such as: prevention and management of early childhood caries; basic fluoride and preventive management; dental sealants; oral prophylaxis; and preventive space-maintaining appliances. Along with basic restorative care of children, students are trained in pediatric endodontics with an emphasis on treatment and management; and basic exodontia and the minor surgical treatment of children; management of dental trauma of children. The program addresses behavior management techniques for uncooperative children to promote effective delivery of dental treatment, along with rehabilitative techniques for retentive crowns on severely compromised primary teeth (stainless steel and zirconia). The program prepares students for the management and treatment of young children with special health care needs under general anesthesia, and management of young children with issues related to hemophilia, or thalassemia, as well as related to syndromic associations. The department and school conducts a multitude of outreach programs including, but not limited to: school dental health programs to address common oral health issues of children and prevention.
