B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIST, established in 2012, began with a vision to shape competent mechanical engineers equipped to meet evolving industry demands. With admissions based on national-level JEE merit, the department currently accommodates 30 students guided by 12 dedicated faculty members, many of whom are alumni of premier institutes like IITs and NITs. The academic focus spans across core areas such as engineering design, thermal sciences, manufacturing processes, industrial engineering, and mechatronics, enhanced by additional lab sessions and active student engagement in clubs like the Robotics Club and SAE India. Students gain real-world exposure through summer training programs in advanced fields like CFD, FEM, renewable energy, CNC machining, and robotics.
The department boasts a comprehensive range of labs, including the Mechanical Measurement Lab, Thermodynamics Lab, Heat Transfer Lab, RAC Lab, IC Engines Lab, and more, each offering hands-on experience with modern tools and equipment. Students explore fluid dynamics, manufacturing techniques, material strength, and machine mechanics through practical experiments. High-end instruments and research facilities support both academic and interdisciplinary innovation, enabling students to work on real-world challenges and research projects.
