Eligibility Criteria
Admission to the first year/first semester of the Master of Technology (M.Tech) program at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is open to candidates who have passed B.E. or B.Tech examinations from VTU or any other recognized university or institution. The final eligibility decision is made by the Equivalence Committee, especially for candidates with foreign degrees, who must provide an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.
Candidates holding diplomas equivalent to B.E./B.Tech., such as AMIE, are also eligible. However, degrees earned through distance education (national or international) are not accepted for M.Tech admission under any quota. The minimum aggregate mark requirement for general candidates is 50%, while SC/ST and Category I candidates need a minimum of 45%, with no rounding off allowed.
These rules ensure that only qualified candidates with recognized credentials and sufficient academic performance are admitted to the M.Tech program at VTU, maintaining high academic standards for postgraduate engineering education. Reservations apply specifically for Karnataka candidates in SC/ST and Category I categories.
