Highlights BCA is a 3- year undergraduate degree programme that focuses' on knowledge on the basics of computer application and software development. A BCA degree is considered to be at par with a B Tech/BE degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. The degree helps interested students in setting up a sound academic base for an advanced career in Computer Applications. The course of BCA includes database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, web technology and languages such as C, C++, HTML, Java etc. The fees for BCA generally ranges from Rs. 37,500 to 5 lakhs. The minimum and most important eligibility criteria for BCA followed across all colleges is 45% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination. There are no subject level restrictions for pursuing BCA as students with any subjects in 10+2 can apply for BCA unlike B. Tech. Recruiting companies include both big established companies like HP, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant and new-age technology startups like Flipkart. The average salary package post BCA varies between 4LPA to 10 LPA depending on company and the specific role/designation. A BCA graduate has scope in jobs such as Software Engineer, Web Designer and System Analyst.

It was in 1997 that Dr. S.C. Vats, founder of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies – Technical Campus (VIPS-TC), met Swami Jitatmananda Ji — an eminent educationist, management expert, author on Modern Physics, Vedanta and Indian Ethos in Management, an active social worker, and the editor of Prabudh Bharat (Awakened India), the journal initiated by Swami Vivekananda.
As destiny would have it, under a silver oak tree at ‘Advait Ashram’ in Mayawati, Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), in the calm fragrance of pine and fir forests, Swamiji’s inspiring words led Dr. Vats to establish an institute for higher learning in the capital city of India, in the name of Swami Vivekananda — a prophet and pathfinder.
Carrying forward that vision, VIPS-TC today offers a range of professional programmes, including a well-structured BCA degree course, aimed at nurturing strong technical knowledge, analytical ability, and practical skills in the field of computer applications, while staying rooted in values and holistic education.
It was a gigantic task that fell upon Dr. Vats’ shoulders. But resolved as he was, he returned to Delhi and in a couple of months’ time sold his ancestral house and from the sales proceed of that house seed capital was created, which was so very important for establishing a new Institute with high ideals.
In order to materialize Swamiji’s dreams, Dr. Vats rolled out a road map. As a first step, he held brain storming session with eminent scholars and people from academia along with some legal luminaries and retired civil servants. The brain child of which was a society for Total Revival of Nation, thus called the Society for Total Revival and National Glory and True Heritage (STRENGTH), which was later registered as a charitable society under the Registration of Societies Act, in 1998 with a mission of making VIPS-TC an ideal educational Institution with the clear objective of “Man Making, Character Building, Nation Building” as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda
