Highlights Master of Computer Applications is a master level course. Duration of this course is 3-year long and its syllabus is divided into 6-semesters and it provide on part-time basis by various institutes. Master of Computer Applications involves inventory control, order processing, and payroll. It is career orienting in nature and provide many job career in various fields. It is the use of the computer to solve a specific problem or to accomplish a job for an end user. This course is being offered by many colleges or universities on part-time basis by certain institutes. Its syllabus is based on the development of application software in diverse areas. This Department was set up in 1987-88 in this university to bring awareness of the Electronics instrumentation and Computers; and impart quality education to the students in this region. Department conducted its classes initially in the Department of Physics and later on shifted to its independent and existing building in the University campus in 1992. Currently, the Department is offering four semester (CBCS) two post graduate programmes: M. Sc. Electronics and M. Sc. Computer Science; and Ph. D. programmes in Electronics and Computer Science, in the faculty of Science and Technology. Since inception, the Department has been continuously striving to provide quality education to the students and help the students to carry out state of the art projects at the final year. The Department also conducts high quality research in Electronic instrumentation and analysis. The Department has an academic collaboration with University of Porto, Portugal and premier institutes of India such as Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. Recently, the Department has signed a MOU with RedHat exploring the possibility of collaboration and empower the students to establish a career path with open source and RedHat technologies.

Applicants should have a minimum of 50% marks in their qualifying examination. Eligible degrees for admission include B.C.A, B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Sc. (IT), B.E. (CSE), B.Tech (CSE), B.E. (IT), or B.Tech. (IT) from any recognized University/Institute.
Alternatively, candidates with any graduation degree, such as B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc/B.Com/B.A./B.Voc., are also eligible to apply, preferably with Mathematics at the 10+2 level or at the graduation level. These candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks. For those with a different graduation degree, additional bridge courses may be required, as per the norms of the concerned University.
