Suresh Gyan Vihar University (SGVU) in Jaipur traces its roots to the visionary efforts of Shri Kamlakar ‘Kamal’ and Acharya Shri Purushottam ‘Uttam’, who founded Sahitya Sadawart in 1938 amid Rajasthan's feudal era, when education was scarce for the poor, women, and lower castes. This pioneering institution spread free knowledge through peripatetic teachers, evolving into schools and colleges that blended traditional wisdom with modern methods, laying the groundwork for Jaipur's rise as an education hub. Acharya Uttam, revered as the quintessential teacher, inspired generations, while founder Shri Suresh Sharma expanded access with schools for underprivileged girls and influenced Rajasthan's early education policies as a Congress stalwart. Gyan Vihar School launched in 1994 to fuse Eastern and Western pedagogy, followed by the Gyan Vihar School of Engineering & Technology in 1999 over 32 acres, embracing cutting-edge science. In 2008, Rajasthan's Act No. 16 elevated it to state private university status, UGC-empowered under Section 22 to award degrees. SGVU quickly earned NAAC A++ accreditation—the only private Rajasthan university with this honor—and NIRF rankings, reflecting stellar faculty, administration, and student efforts in quality education and research.
