About DMS IIT Delhi IIT Delhi (DMS) School of Management traces its roots as far back as 1963 by launching the M.Tech. program in “Management Systems” as an inter-disciplinary program in the Management area. It started as a small experiment; subsequently, IIT Delhi increased it, having already established in 1975 an M.Tech programme in Management Systems through what was then a School of Systems and Management Studies. As management education became increasingly recognised as a necessary adjunct to technology, the scheme broadened into the Centre for Management Studies. A few years later, in 1993, that vision bore fruit in earnest when an amendment to the IIT Delhi statutes was introduced as the Department of Management Studies was officially established as a new chapter in management education, in one of the most prestigious IITs.
Right from its inception, DMS has made efforts to keep industry requirements in focus through not only its academic program but also various other activities. The same year, the department introduced its MBA program (curriculum reviewed in 2012-2013 under Semester Career Oriented Programme) that has become a benchmark in the field of management education and is still the flagship program of the department. Today, DMS IIT Delhi offers a full-time 2-year MBA (general and with specialisation in TSM) programme and a 3-year part-time MBA- TMT in Technology Management programme. The programmes are constantly benchmarked with the best in the world, resulting in managers who are equipped to deal with the complexities of a changing world. Candidature is tested through CAT, group discussions and personal interviews, so that only the best kind of students qualify for this program.
