Apex Professional University is empowered to award degrees specified by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. APU is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi and also approved by regulatory bodies like Council of Architecture (CoA), Bar Council of India (BCI), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).

After the ascent of His Excellency Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Apex Professional University Act 2012 (No. 7 of 2013) notified by Government of Arunachal Pradesh in the official Gazette of Arunachal Pradesh vide notification No. LAW/LEGN-17/2012 dated 10th May, 2013.
Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh is included in the list of approved Universities maintained by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). APU is empowered to award Degrees as specified University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of HRD, Government of India under section 22 of UGC Act, 1956.
