The course comprises four and a half years of academic and clinical study, followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship. In the early years, students build a strong foundation in basic medical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. As they progress, the focus shifts to para-clinical and clinical medicine, covering pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and community health. Classroom instruction is complemented by hands-on clinical exposure at the associated Hakeem Abdul Hameed Centenary Hospital, where students learn patient care, clinical decision-making, and procedural skills under supervision. The final-year internship allows students to integrate their learning across departments and prepare for independent medical practice.
