Jawaharlal Nehru University, established in 1969, is a vibrant campus. The university has an area of about 1000 acres and currently 7300 students are residing in 17 Hostels and studying under around 550 reputed faculties. JNU believes in creating new heights in every field of education and in nurturing social awareness in society. We have 10 different Schools including 4 Special Centres to provide quality education and social awareness. The School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies (SLL&CS) trains our students not only in the languages but also in the overall socio-cultural and political aspects of respective countries. The School of International Studies (SIS) is responsible for providing an overview of world politics and their influence on world society. This school is renowned for producing members of various committees of National and International Organisations. JNU is well-known for path-breaking research in the Sciences, and has always encouraged students towards innovation and transformation in different sectors corresponding to different schools such as the School of Physical Sciences (SPS), the School of Life Sciences (SLS), the Special Centre for Microbiology, the School of Environmental Sciences (SES), the School of Computer and Systems Sciences, the School of Biotechnology (SBT), the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine and Nanoscience, etc.
