Health service delivery systems are undergoing rapid changes. With issues such as AIDS, population explosion, natural and man-made disasters, pandemics like SARS, bird flu etc. challenging public healthcare, it has become very urgent to prepare a task force of experts in dealing with the domain of public health in the world in general and India in particular. In our country, where lack of basic awareness about health care can lead to making a large section of our human resource as a liability instead of an asset, the need for specialized programmes in Public Health cannot be more emphasized.
