Highlights The Institute prepares students for the “A” Grade professionals in Nursing and Midwifery conducted by Karnataka State G.N.M. Examination Board under the auspices of the Director of Medical Education, Karnataka Nursing Council, Government of Karnataka. This course is already recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. Demonstrate awareness of and skills required in the Nursing process in the provision of health care and Nursing of patients. They will be competent to : Assess the nursing needs of individuals, families and communities throughout life, from birth to death ; Plan appropriate action to meet their needs through competent safe nursing care ; Take appropriate action to help people retain or sustain their best possible level of health in all its aspects.
Facilities
The 1,250-bed hospital comprises beds in various specialities, including Medical, Surgical, Pediatric, and other specialities such as sports and Orthopaedics. Opportunities are also provided to students to visit Health and Social Community centres for their learning experiences.
The college is affiliated with many General and super-speciality hospitals, including K.C.G. Hospital and E.S.I. Hospital, Nimhans, Sanjay Gandhi Accident and Rehabilitation Hospital, Sports Authority of India, U.S.A., I.I. Sc, as also our very own Physiotherapy Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre.
Library
The Library is stacked with Professional and Non-Professional Books, Medical Journals, Periodicals, and Newspapers in English and Regional Languages. Rated as one of the most comprehensive collections of knowledge in the related fields of courses, the library is constantly updated with the best Books and periodicals, featuring an extensive collection of audio and video presentations in various formats, including slides, overhead projectors, Videos, and Audio Cassettes, as well as Internet and Media Resources from the National Informatics Services.
The library will remain open during the academic term until late evening. Students will be given a borrower card. While borrowing books, these cards should be signed by both the students and the Librarian. Students must present their ID cards upon entering the Library. Taking reference books outside the library is not permitted. A delay in returning books will incur a penalty. Perfect silence must be observed in the library. The whole library is computerised.
Hostel Facilities
A separate hostel for boys and girls is available, located adjacent to the college, with security provided. Students must abide by the hostel's rules and regulations strictly. Both Veg. & Non-veg food is served in the hostel. Payment of the hostel fee is through DD or directly through our bank.
The hostel caution deposit will be refunded only after the completion of the course, provided the warden submits a no-dues certificate. No interim requests for refunds or adjustments will be entertained. The same shall be treated as forfeited in the event of withdrawal of admission / vacating the hostel room before the completion of the course.
Allotment of hostel seats will be for the full academic year. If they wish to leave the hostel during the middle of the academic year, they must pay the Hostel Charges for the full academic year in a lump sum. All students shall leave the hostel on the closing day of the hostel itself. Students, while going out, shall enter in the register , the time of leaving, the purpose and the proposed time of return. While returning, they shall also enter the time of return in the same register. Students are allowed to go out for shopping once a month and should return to the hostel before 3:00 p.m.
No visitors or parents are allowed to enter the hostel rooms. Inmates shall not entertain any beggars, vendors or any other persons inside inside the hostel premises. Parents shall give a letter of authorisation along with an attested photo of the local guardians to allow their daughters to visit whenever deemed necessary. Inmates will not be allowed to go outside with any person other than their local guardians, who are their parents or those they have authorised.
