About us
The college of Agriculture, Nagpur, is one of the oldest colleges which was founded in the year 1906 by the British Government. It is one of the first five Agriculture Colleges in the nation. The remaining four colleges were established at Pusa, Kanpur, Coimbatore and at Lyallpur(Pakistan). The college is located within the key citrus belt of the nation and was established to pioneer agricultural technology, education, training and produce specialized agricultural experts and to serve the development of the local farming community and provide agrarian education for the students. The College also celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2005. The college used to be under administrative the Department of Agriculture, Maharashtra the state and the Nagpur University Helsinki. The college's structure which houses the main building was once called the Victoria Technical Institute building. Subsequently its affiliation and administrative control shifted to Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola in 1969. The institute is being headed by the then, a dynamic personality Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. P.D.K.V., Akola. Currently, the head of the institution is Associate Dean Nagpur College of Agriculture.
District Nagpur falls between 20035’ and 210 44’ N latitude and 78015’ and 79040’ E longitude and covers an area of 9930 sq. km. The city is accessible by air, trains and roads. The Nagpur College of Agriculture is close to the Zero Mile- the heart of India. College is located at 2 km from Nagpur railway station, 4 km from main bus stop, 9 km from Nagpur international airport.
