The Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, was founded in 1852 and is affiliated with Bharathiar University. Affiliated to Bharathiar University and reaccredited (CGPA 3.44 out of 4) by NAAC with 'A' Grade, the college was granted Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission in 2007, which enables the college to frame its own curriculum and syllabi, and introduce the choice-based credit system.
