M.Sc Business Analytics
The increase in the volume, variety and velocity of data creates opportunities for businesses to improve decision-making and develop new data-driven products and services. The MSc Business Analytics has been developed to meet the demand for qualified professionals who have the expertise to deliver end-to-end analytics solutions and apply data effectively in business contexts.
The programme is built around the three core areas needed to succeed in analytics: business knowledge, statistics and computing. This includes modules focused on the application of analytics in core business functions such as marketing and human resources, as well as those that develop key technical skills in areas like advanced analytics, machine learning, data mining, data management and data-driven decision-making.
Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software including Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI and KNIME, building the practical skills needed to work with complex data. Through a partnership with US-based Alteryx, students also benefit from access to free software licenses, training and certification — part of an in-kind donation valued at approximately $15 million. This equips students with industry-recognised credentials and a competitive edge in the global analytics job market.
In total, students will study eight modules, alongside pre-course training and a final dissertation project. The dissertation is a key highlight of the programme, offering the opportunity to design and deliver a technical business analytics solution that brings together all aspects of their learning.
The programme begins with a welcome week followed by the academic sessions.
