Highlights The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Yoga & Vedic Therapy is a sophisticated bridge between ancient healing traditions and modern clinical science. Far from being a standard fitness qualification, this degree represents a deep, academic dive into the physiological, psychological, and spiritual mechanics of human well-being. By integrating the rigorous study of Vedic texts and Vedantic philosophy with evidence-based therapeutic protocols, the program equips practitioners to address modern health crises—such as chronic stress and lifestyle disorders—from a truly holistic perspective. It transforms a passion for yoga into a professional expertise, empowering graduates to act as both scholarly researchers and compassionate consultants who can "unravel" complex ancient wisdom into practical, life-changing therapy.
About S-VYASA (Deemed to be University)
Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, widely known as S-VYASA, was declared a Deemed to be University by the UGC in 2002. Rooted in the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the university has embraced Yoga and its many applications as a way to meet the needs and challenges of modern society. Its guiding vision, “Be and Make,” reflects its belief in combining the best of the East with the best of the West.
S-VYASA is recognized as the first full-fledged higher education institution in India and across the world dedicated to Yoga. It offers a wide range of UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs, with a strong focus on developing the complete personality of every student. The university draws inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s idea of education as the unfolding of the perfection that already exists within each individual. In this spirit, S-VYASA understands Yoga in a broader and more holistic way, bringing together Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Karma Yoga, while also emphasizing the growth and balance of all five Koshas: Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya, and Anandamaya.
Most of the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs are offered in a residential setting at Prashanti Kutiram, a serene and beautiful campus designed to support learning and personal growth. The campus can accommodate nearly 2,500 students, faculty, and staff. S-VYASA is also well known for its strong research culture, with more than 500 research papers published in respected national and international journals. In addition, it runs academic journals such as IJOY, IJPPP, and the popular monthly magazine Yoga Sudha. Its alumni network, now numbering over 10,000, is spread across the world, carrying forward the university’s values and vision. The university also houses the highly comprehensive Anveshana Research Lab, which studies changes across all five Koshas in a scientific and integrated manner.
