with a missionary zeal for medical education and patient care, conceived the noble idea of providing much needed medical care to the general public. This bloomed in the form of Arya Medical School in 1934, started in a rented building in Civil Lines, Ludhiana.
Located in Ludhiana, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital is a non-aided, not-for-profit charitable, private medical college accredited by NABH. It is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot and is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Established in 1964, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital offers MBBS, postgraduate courses such as MD/ MS in 19 specialities, postdoctoral DM/ MCh courses in nine specialisations and MPhil (Clinical Psychology) across 24 departments. The college has been awarded 26th rank by NIRF Ranking 2020 and NIRF Ranking 2021 (Medical).
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital accepts merit and entrance-based admission to its courses through BFUHS. DMCH Ludhiana DM/ MCh admission is based on NEET SS. DMCH Ludhiana MBBS admission is based on NEET-UG. Admission to DMCH Ludhiana's MD/ MS courses is based on NEET PG. The new facilities at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital include a state-of-the-art cancer centre, bone marrow transplant, hypertension clinic, internal pharmacy, IVF centre, liver transplant, Emergency Medicine Department, Critical Care Medicine Department, Genetic Lab, state-of-the-art dietary services, PET CT and radiotherapy facilities, among others. To boost medical research, DMCH has set up its own research and development Centre. It has also started DMCH Nursing College recently.
