The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) was established in 2010 as one of ten new NITs during the 11th Five-Year Plan. The institute was founded with the goal of providing high-quality engineering education and research to students from all over India.
NIT Goa began its academic activities in 2010-11 with an initial batch of 120 students enrolled in four undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The institute has since expanded to offer eight undergraduate programs and seven postgraduate programs.
