B.Tech Biotechnology Entrance Exams 2026 Guide

The B.Tech Biotechnology admissions depend on various exams, such as the JEE Main, CUET UG, and state-level entrance exams, for 15,000+ CRISPR gene-editing courses. IITs require JEE Advanced ranks, whereas NITs require JEE Main ranks for AI/bioinformatics courses. Private colleges like VIT and SRM University have their own exams for  B.Tech Biotechnology courses. The JEE Advanced exclusively serves the top 2.5 lakh JEE Mains qualifiers, targeting IIT Delhi Kharagpur biotechnology seats. The exam will be conducted on May 17. JoSAA counselling allocates limited biotech seats based on CRL ranks in the 3,000-8,000 range.

The VITEEE exam provides direct admission to VIT Vellore's biotechnology program, which will be conducted as a remote-proctored exam on Apr 28-May 3. Ranks 1-500 secure 100% scholarships, while ranks 20,000 and above guarantee biotech seats. 

SRMJEEE 2026 serves as the main entrance exam for B.Tech Biotechnology admission across SRM campuses in Chennai, Amravati and Sonepat. The pattern stays the same as earlier years, with subject‑wise MCQs in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology depending on the candidate’s 12th stream.
