About Dharmsinh Desai University
Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), formerly known as the Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology (DDIT), is a prominent public institution in Nadiad, Gujarat, established on January 2, 1968. Founded by Shri Dharmsinh Desai, a Member of Parliament with a vision to advance higher education in Engineering and Technology, the university has grown steadily over the decades. It gained autonomous status under Gujarat University in 1991, became a Deemed University in 2000, and achieved full university status in 2005. Over the years, DDU has expanded its academic scope by introducing diverse programs, including Dental Surgery in 2005, Pharmacy in 2006, and pioneering Nanotechnology courses in Gujarat in 2012. More recently, it was approved by the Medical Council of India to establish a Medical College in 2019–20, further strengthening its multidisciplinary approach.
