About us
Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) is a professional media center which offers a variety of services in training and production. Spread over two campuses — St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s High School in Mumbai — the institute has become a centre for budding media professionals. It is a constituent college of the Bombay St. Xavier's College Society Trust, along with St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Mumbai and the Xavier Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai and Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture.
XIC is one of the largest non-government media centers in Asia offering approximately 30 courses and 2,500 student enrolments. Founded in 1969 by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, CJC was instituted to promote professionalism and scholarship in media. Today it is under the Jesuit management of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) of Bombay Province and continues to uphold the Jesuit standard of quality education. Staffed by the members of the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, Jesuit education at XIC goes beyond job training to nurture the individual as a whole. It encourages them to regard learning as a process of self-actualization — as something enriching, liberating and deeply pleasurable.
