B.E. in Civil Engineering
The Civil Engineering programme at AIET is structured around the core principles of planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure systems. Students are introduced to major subjects including structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying, transportation engineering, hydraulics, environmental engineering, and construction technology. The curriculum follows the VTU framework while also incorporating practical exposure through laboratory sessions, CAD training, surveying practice, workshops, and industrial interaction.
The department places strong emphasis on experiential learning. Students regularly participate in seminars, industrial visits, certification programmes, and training activities that provide exposure to modern construction methods and engineering technologies. Certification programmes such as E-Survey CADD and other technical training initiatives help students improve industry-relevant skills beyond the regular syllabus. The department is supported by specialised laboratories, including the Material Testing Lab, Surveying Practice Labs, Geology Lab, Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machinery Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, and Computer-Aided Design Lab. These facilities allow students to gain hands-on experience in testing, analysis, surveying, and design applications used in the civil engineering industry. Faculty members also guide students in research-oriented work, higher education opportunities, and technical project development.
