About Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 and began functioning in July 2006. Initially established as the “Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute,” it was granted full university status in the same year to align with India’s National Law Universities framework. Entirely funded by the State Government, the university was founded with the vision of advancing legal education and instilling a strong sense of social responsibility among its students.
The university is built on a sprawling 40-acre residential campus in Lucknow, designed as a self-sufficient township. It offers all the facilities required for a vibrant student life, including separate hostels for boys and girls, dining halls, Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, a well-stocked library, moot courtrooms, seminar rooms, a gymnasium, an auditorium, a swimming pool, a cyber lab, and a guest house. The campus provides a balanced environment that encourages both academic focus and holistic development.
One of the strengths of RMLNLU is its team of over 27 permanent full-time faculty members, which is rare among law universities and ensures consistent academic quality and mentoring. The university offers a wide range of programs, such as the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), a one-year LL.M., doctoral programs in law, and postgraduate diplomas in fields like Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Media and Entertainment Law.
