About us
Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara is situated in the historic as well as scenically beautiful city Satara on the, Satara situated city in hills of Sahyadri. The college is part of the family of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, a leading educational trust established by the Late Padmbhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil. History Established in June 1958 Science wing of Chh. Shivaji College Satara, it was subsequently organised into a one-faculty 25 June 1965 Science College. The college of science was named after Late Shri. Yashavantrao Balawantrao Chavan, Ex. Deputy Prime Minister, Govt. of India & with Ex. President of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in 1986 as Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science. The Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science is well known government aided science institute in Kolhapur and it is affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and the college identification number is UKF/565/U/5 and Index No. of Junior College is 21.10.003. The aggregate outcome of consistant success in academic, extracurricular and social performance of the institute is – accreditation at A level and reaccreditation at A level (with CGPA 3.37) by NAAC, Banglore. The College has been identified as ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ by UGC, New Delhi and FIST ( FUNDS for IMPROVEMENT IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ) by DST New Delhi. The institute is recognized as STAR college by DBT, New Delhi.
