The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program at the University of Mumbai, Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL), also referred to as the Centre for Distance & Online Education (CDOE), is a postgraduate program approved by the UGC. It is intended for candidates who seek higher education in computer applications through distance mode. The course is two years, four semesters (previously offered as a three-year course) with the intent to provide comprehensive insight into programming, database systems, software development, and an understanding of IT. To be eligible, a BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), or any graduation with Mathematics at either the 10+2 or degree level will suffice. A minimum of 50% in marks for general candidates and 45% for reserved categories is required in Maharashtra. Admission is through an entrance test that deals with mathematics, reasoning, computer concepts, and English.
