Highlights B.A in History, Economics and Political Science (HEP) is an undergraduate History course. The roots of the B.A. lie in all three aspects: arts, and subjects related to the humanities, such as history, economics, political science, etc. They start with the fundamentals — how historical events have shaped civilisations, and what economic theories explain changing market conditions, or how political institutions are structured and governance is conducted. It progresses to more specific subjects such as contemporary history, world wars, colonial and post-colonial studies, microeconomics and macroeconomics, public finance, political ideologies, international relations and comparative politics. The plan was to give students both breadth and analytical depth, teaching them about the interconnectedness among history, economics, and politics, as well as the relevance of those fields to current events. Learning at Roots is very interactive and experiential, with students engaging in debates, case studies, research projects, seminars, and discussions that connect academics to real-world applications.

The B.A. in History, Economics, and Political Science (HEP) is a three-year, full-time program at Osmania University, divided into six semesters. In the first year, students establish a solid foundation by studying ancient and medieval history, understanding basic economic theories and resource allocation, and learning about political systems, the Indian Constitution, and governance structures. In the second and third years, the curriculum becomes more specialized and detailed. In history, students examine modern Indian history, world history, freedom movements, colonialism, and social transformations. In economics, they explore microeconomics, macroeconomics, public finance, development economics, the Indian economy, and global economic policies. In political science, they study international relations, comparative politics, political ideologies, public administration, and contemporary political issues. The curriculum is regularly updated to maintain relevance—recent additions include modules on economic reforms, globalization, political communication, and sustainable development. Learning is highly participatory and experiential—students engage in debates, analyze historical documents, study economic data, present case studies, write research papers, and participate in seminars and workshops. Internships with government offices, NGOs, research organizations, media outlets, and think tanks offer practical exposure and help students understand how their subjects apply in real-world settings. The goal is clear: to graduate students who are well-informed, analytical, articulate, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to public service, research, journalism, teaching, civil services, or further studies in social sciences.
